Frequently Asked Questions

What is the teaching philosophy behind Road2Teach?

Road2Teach is built on three core pillars: rigor, relevance, and relationships. We believe that great teachers are developed through high academic standards, real-world preparation, and strong, supportive connections with mentors and peers.

How does Road2Teach prepare teachers for real classrooms?

Our program combines research-based coursework with hands-on field experiences and a 12-week teaching internship. Candidates learn instructional strategies, classroom management, and inclusive practices that reflect the realities of today’s schools.

What makes Road2Teach different from other teacher certification programs?

Unlike many programs, Road2Teach is designed specifically for adult learners and career changers. We offer a flexible, online format with personalized support from experienced educators—including advisors, coaches, and faculty who understand the challenges of transitioning into teaching.

Who teaches the courses at Road2Teach?

Our faculty includes experienced teachers, school leaders, and education experts who have worked in real classrooms and have their EdD in education. They design and deliver coursework that is aligned with Indiana’s licensure standards and grounded in practical, real-world application.

What kind of support do Road2Teach candidates receive?

Every candidate is supported by a team that includes an Admissions Specialist, Candidate Advisor, Instructional Coach, Candidate Supervisor, and Faculty. This team provides one-on-one guidance, feedback, and encouragement throughout the program.

Is Road2Teach aligned with Indiana’s teacher licensure requirements?

Yes. Road2Teach is an Indiana Department of Education–approved Transition to Teaching provider. Our curriculum is aligned with state standards and includes preparation for required Praxis exams and the Early Literacy Endorsement (for applicable pathways).

If I am currently teaching on an emergency license, is this the right program for me?

Absolutely! Road2Teach is designed to support individuals already in the classroom who need a high quality, research founded educational preparation program which provides flexibility for busy teachers.
